My Cake

Monday, March 15, 2010

This is my cake. Well, without the white stick figures and the red rose. I don't know why we chose this cake. I think it will give my mother a slight heart attack. She will hate it. I don't know why we picked it. We were looking for one of the normal safe options when a friend pointed us to a bakery which had the reputation of being just the best bakery around those parts. I mean, they count Oprah as one of their clients! We met with Jackie who's the quintessential Jewish mother and she joked and laughed and drew us a picture. Then gave Bolaji a free magazine. Then we said okay. From the moment we walked out of the bakery that faithful morning, I was thinking "what have I done????" Alas, it is done. The cake has been paid for.

This is my cake.

I think I love it. I'm afraid that I love it. Secretly. Deep inside of me I'm jumping for glee.

I'm afraid I'll hate that I did this to my wedding pictures.

Rookie!!!! Miss ya gal! Ok, so what do you mean by you "think" you love it?!? Still look at other styles, since you seem unsure (to me). Get what you love...not think you love. You don't want any regrets.

I like the design and patterns but never did like black for weddings. All the best with the preps and if you're not sure about the cake, surely they can change it?

Hi everyone! Thanks for the comments.

@MissNatural - it's exciting but so nerve-wracking!

@Lady A - Hiii hun! It's been a long while, i'm glad you're back! I'm 85% sure i love it. I guess that's good enough :-)

@YNC - the pressure, the pressure, of course when pics come I hope to be able to show as much as possible. but my photog gives 3 months before receiving the photographs, so it'll be a while.

@anon - thanks!

@jaycee - wow, what compliments, thank you thank you. i think on some level it was just an aspect that we were enticed into going crazy on. I'm glad we did. oh and it is so yummy :-)

@beautiful - ha! my mother will definitely hate it. I feel like it might might spoil the day for her a little, but she'll get over it.

@lovesblogs - it tastes so divine lemme tell u! It's a death by chocolate kind of cake, so moist, and rich, and lovely. i'm salivating just thinking about it now.

@myne - i have a feeling you're solidly in the "don't like it" bucket, lol. I like the cake, i'm just a bit surprised that we even picked it is all...i think.

@t04051 - better...double chocolate. it's Ah-mazing!
